The Department of Industrial Engineering (DII) of the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences of the University of Chile, has spent several years developing the area of Business Intelligence from a theoretical, methodological and practical perspective; doing research, teaching (undergraduate and graduate) and activities applied to different industries. On the other hand, Prof. Ríos, since his return to Chile from Tokyo (2008), had attempted to create a center specialized in data mining issues in an effort to bring research in this area closer, strengthen and generate human capital in the area of Business intelligence; and generate new knowledge (theoretical, methodological and practical) that allow for better management, decision making at all levels of an organization.

Thus, since 2009, the Social Network Analysis and Web Mining laboratory was created; and later, with the support of MOVISTAR S.A. In 2011, CEINE was created informally. Finally, in August 2012, CEINE was formally created with a cooperation agreement between MOVISTAR and the U. of Chile, an agreement signed by the Dean of the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Prof. Francisco Brieva.

For almost 9 years now, the Center has become a benchmark of excellence, both nationally and internationally in this area of knowledge. With more than 150 thesis works in the area (undergraduate, master and doctorate), multiple applied projects and consultancies in industry and public services. In addition, to participate in several international research projects.

Lastly, CEINE is an open initiative, where we are always ready to generate collaboration and links with the university industry (See brochure). Therefore, I would like to cordially invite you to participate!
